TitleNONISOCYANATE POLYURETHANE NANOCAPSULES (NIPU) for drug delivery and imaging
Knowhow is available forFabrication of polyurethane-based biodegradable nanocarriers for drug delivery and imaging
Summary"The inverse mini-emulsion technique was used to produce nanocapsules containing urethane linkages, following an interfacial polyaddition reaction between stoichiometric amounts of amine (1,8-diaminooctane) and carbonate (adipate bicarbonate or alkyl C10 diglycerol carbonate) as the respective bifunctional monomers. In this approach, a NaCl solution was used to build up the osmotic pressure of droplets in the continuous hydrophobic phase and rhodamine/doxorubicin was encapsulated in the hydrophilic core. To facilitate the permeation of the nanocapsules through the potential barrier of the mitochondrial membrane and to improve the mitochondrial targeting efficiency, nanocapsules were then grafted with alkylated triphenylphosphonium cation." -- taken from: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.bioconjchem.8b00460
AdvantagesAdvantages 1. High stability and mono-dispersion 2. Improved therapeutic efficacy of bioactive 3. Non toxic method of preparation of Nanocapsules by using cyclic carbonate over isocyanate monomer 4. Biodegradable nature of polyurethane nanocapsules (Esterase enzyme assisted fragmentation of the biocompatible polymeric shell and Subsequent release of doxorubicin, killing of cancer cells) 5. Controlled release rate
